On the 5th May, Jo Thomson, (Head of Clayesmore) was in Washington and had a wonderful evening catching up with a couple of OC's who are based in the USA. We will be planning another event in the USA over the summer and we do hope more of you will be able to attend. Details will follow shortly. Whilst on a recent trip to Washington Jo had the absolute pleasure of meeting Dr. Mehdi Heravi who was born in Tehran, Iran and attended Clayesmore for a year during 1953. He moved to Logan, Utah, for high school and remained in Logan to continue his education. Mehdi has fond memories of his time at Clayesmore and Jo had a fantastic time hearing about his inspiring life since he left. In 1963 Mehdi received a bachelor's degree in Political Science and went onto complete his master’s in 1964, both at USU. His interest was in international relations (with a focus on the Middle East and American government) and this led him to the School of International Service at American University, where he received his Ph.D.. Mehdi later served as vice president and provost at the University of Iran. Mehdi is a philanthropist and has devoted his life to providing support to academic programs and charities, including an orphanage in Iran. He is passionate about encouraging young academic talent, and cares deeply about students receiving access to international programs and other academic opportunities. |
